Someone sees your Instagram post and wants the product, guide, menu or booking page you mentioned.
They comment LINK, reply to your Story or send a keyword in your DMs. Instead of making them search your profile or wait for a manual reply, ZayDM can deliver the relevant destination in a private Instagram conversation.
Instagram interaction → Keyword matches → Automated DM → Requested link → Click measured when eligible
The goal is simple: give people the next step they requested while their interest is still fresh.
When someone asks for a product or resource on Instagram, every extra step creates another opportunity to lose them.
Consider the usual link-in-bio journey:
An automated DM can make that journey more direct:
This works especially well when the destination is specific and the public call to action is clear.
You can use the workflow to send:
One clear request should lead to one relevant response and one obvious next step.
ZayDM can connect several common Instagram interactions with the link or resource someone wants.
Invite people to comment a keyword such as LINK, SHOP, MENU or GUIDE. When an eligible comment matches your rules, ZayDM can start the private response.
For example:
Comment SHOP and I will send you the product link.
A short public reply can also tell the commenter to check their inbox.
Ask people to DM a word connected to their request. ZayDM checks the incoming message against your keyword rules and sends the response you configured.
For example:
DM PRICE and I will send the details.
This is useful when your caption, Story or profile already encourages people to start the conversation privately.
A Story Reply automation can turn timely interest into a useful next step. The workflow can respond to qualifying Story replies and apply keyword rules when you want a more specific trigger.
For example:
Reply MENU and I will send you the full menu.
Normal inbox messages and Story replies are different trigger types in ZayDM, so choose the automation that matches the interaction you are promoting.
The simplest version contains five decisions.
Decide whether the automation should start from a comment, direct message or Story reply.
Use a keyword that naturally describes the next step. SHOP fits a product, GUIDE fits a resource, CALL fits a booking page and MENU fits a restaurant menu.
Avoid clever keywords that people may misspell or forget. The instruction should be easy to understand after someone watches a short Reel or Story.
Keep the message connected to what the person requested.
Instead of:
Thank you for your interest in our amazing offer. We are delighted to welcome you.
Try:
Here is the product you asked for. Tap below to see the details and available sizes.
The second message sounds like an answer to the conversation the person started.
Use a supported HTTPS destination or upload an eligible document when that fits the campaign. Make the button label describe what happens next.
Useful labels include:
Specific CTA labels are easier to understand than a generic label such as Learn More.
Test from another Instagram account before promoting the campaign.
Confirm that:
Saving an automation proves that its configuration was accepted. A real Instagram test proves that the complete journey works for the recipient.
For detailed product steps, use the Comment Automation guide.
The same automation pattern can serve different goals when the message and destination match the audience's intent.
Public CTA
Comment SHOP and I will send you the exact product.
Automated DM
Here is the product you asked for. Tap below to view the details, sizes and available colours.
Button: View Product
Link to the specific product when possible. Sending someone to the store homepage makes them repeat the search they already completed in the comments.
Public CTA
Comment CALL and I will send you the next steps.
Automated DM
Thanks for your interest. Here is the booking page. Choose a time that works for you.
Button: Book a Call
The first automated message does not need to sell the entire service. Its job is to help an interested person take the next appropriate step.
Public CTA
Comment GUIDE and I will send you the checklist.
Automated DM
I have the checklist ready for you. You can open it below.
Button: Get the Guide
Keep the promise specific. A focused checklist or template is often easier to understand than a broad resource that claims to solve everything.
Public CTA
Comment MENU and we will send you the full menu.
Automated DM
Here is our current menu. Reply if you need help with a booking or group order.
Button: View Menu
The same approach can deliver a catering menu, location details, a seasonal offer or a booking page.
Public CTA
Comment FLOORPLAN and I will send you the property details.
Automated DM
Here are the floor plan and property details. Reply if you would like to arrange a viewing.
Button: View Property
Use separate automations when different listings need different destinations. This helps each person receive the property they actually asked about.
Sending the link can be the complete workflow. ZayDM also supports optional steps when they serve a clear purpose.
A public reply can acknowledge the comment with a short message such as:
Sent it to your DMs 👋
Reply variations can help active comment sections feel less repetitive. The public reply and private response remain separate parts of the automation.
An Opening Message can acknowledge the request and wait for the person to tap the button before the remaining flow continues.
For example:
I have the product link ready. Tap below and I will send it over.
Use this step when it makes the journey clearer. Every additional interaction also adds friction, so keep the path proportionate to the request.
When growing the account is part of the campaign, Follow Gate can check follow status before delivering the final resource or response.
Make that expectation clear in the public call to action. If the post promises an immediate link without mentioning a follow requirement, introducing the gate later can feel unexpected.
Eligible HTTPS CTA buttons in the Final Response can be tracked when Click Analytics is available for the account.
ZayDM can report:
A tracked click shows that the person used the CTA. It does not prove that they purchased, booked or completed another action after reaching the destination.
Smart Follow-Ups can continue the conversation after the Final Response is delivered.
You can use:
Pending follow-ups stop when the person sends a genuine Instagram reply. A newer completed automation can also replace the earlier pending sequence for that person.
Comments and DMs show that someone expressed interest. Link activity helps you understand whether the private response moved them toward the destination.
Review these numbers together:
| Metric | What it tells you | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Trigger activity | People responded to the campaign instruction | That the private response was delivered or clicked |
| Automated DMs sent | The response was sent through the automation | That the recipient opened the destination |
| Link clicks | Eligible tracked CTA taps were recorded | Unique customers or completed sales |
| CTR | The share of tracked deliveries with at least one eligible click | Revenue or performance after the destination opened |
If people comment but few tracked deliveries record a click, review the complete journey:
Automation cannot repair a weak offer or a broken destination. It can make a useful next step easier to reach and easier to measure.
Use MENU for a menu and GUIDE for a guide. Clear keywords make the public instruction and the automation rule easier to understand.
Do not place several unexpected messages between the request and the promised destination. Add a step because the campaign needs it.
Prefer View Product, Get the Guide or Book a Call when those labels describe the destination.
Link to the requested item whenever possible. A relevant destination reduces the work the recipient must do after clicking.
The message should acknowledge what happened and provide the next step. Avoid long introductions, excessive formatting and unrelated sales copy.
Check the trigger, response, CTA and destination from the recipient's side. Repeat the test after changing the keyword, destination or response flow.
A useful reminder helps someone return to the resource or continue the conversation. It should not repeat the same pitch without a reason.
Yes. You can create a Comment automation that watches eligible posts or Reels and responds when a comment matches your configured rules. The workflow can then deliver a link through the private response.
