Open Billing
Go to Settings → Billing to manage your ZayDM subscription.
The Billing page shows your Current plan, Monthly DM usage, available plans, and any billing or limit warnings that need attention.
You can also use Manage subscription to open Stripe's secure customer portal for payment methods, invoices, and cancellation.
Review your current plan and usage
The Current plan section shows the plan currently applied to your account.
Use the live Billing page for your current allowances because plan limits and feature availability can change over time.
The Billing page can show usage or attention states for areas such as:
- Monthly DM usage
- Instagram account capacity
- active automation capacity
- plan or subscription status
If ZayDM shows Plan limits: action may be needed, Instagram account limit, Active automation limit, or Review billing, review the affected usage before creating additional accounts or starting more automations.
For the latest public plan comparison, see the Pricing page.
Understand Monthly DM usage
Monthly DM usage shows how many successful automated DMs have been sent against your current allowance.
The allowance is shared across the Instagram accounts connected under the same ZayDM subscription. It is not a separate allowance for each Instagram account.
When the monthly automated DM limit is reached, new automated DM sends stop until more capacity becomes available.
For paid subscriptions, usage follows the billing cycle shown for the subscription. Free usage can follow the calendar-month reset shown by ZayDM.
Drafts and automation configuration may still be available when the DM allowance is exhausted, provided the account is not otherwise billing-locked.
If you upgrade to a plan with a higher allowance and your current usage is below the new limit, additional sending capacity can become available after the billing change is synchronized.
Do not rely on fixed DM limits in this guide. Use the current Billing page for the allowance on your account.
Upgrade your plan
Under Plans, choose the plan you want.
Depending on the plan change, ZayDM may show Upgrade to and ask you to Confirm upgrade.
Paid upgrades take effect immediately. ZayDM may bill a prorated amount for the remaining part of the current billing period.
If you are moving from a free plan to a paid plan, ZayDM opens Stripe Checkout to complete the subscription.
After a successful checkout or plan change, return to Billing and confirm that the new plan and limits are displayed.
Downgrade or switch plans
A downgrade to a lower plan is scheduled for the end of the current billing period.
Until the change takes effect, you keep the current plan's access and limits.
When the downgrade becomes active, the lower plan's limits and feature entitlements apply.
ZayDM does not automatically delete connected accounts or saved automations because of a downgrade. If the account is then over a plan limit, only the plan-eligible subset may continue to run.
For example:
- extra Instagram accounts can remain stored but become ineligible for automation execution
- newer active automations can fall outside the active automation allowance
- features that are no longer included can be blocked at activation or skipped at runtime
If ZayDM shows Review billing after a downgrade, reduce usage or move to a plan that supports the configuration you want to run.
Manage payment methods, invoices, or cancellation
Select Manage subscription to open Stripe's customer portal.
Use the portal to:
- update your payment method
- view invoices
- manage or cancel the paid subscription
These actions are handled in Stripe's hosted billing portal rather than directly inside the ZayDM dashboard.
Cancel your subscription
Cancellation is managed through Manage subscription.
When cancellation is scheduled for the end of the billing period, the paid subscription remains active until that period ends. Your current access and automations can continue during that remaining paid period.
After the paid subscription ends, automated sending may stop until the account has an active plan that supports it.
Cancelling the subscription does not, by itself, delete your saved automations or account data in the current product flow.
ZayDM does not currently document an automatic move to the Free plan after a paid cancellation, so use the plan and status shown in Billing as the source of truth for the account after the paid period ends.
If Billing shows that the subscription is scheduled to end, use Manage billing if you need to change the cancellation status through the billing portal.
Failed payments and billing locks
If a payment fails, ZayDM can show a billing warning and give you time to update the payment method.
During an active grace period, automations may continue running.
If the subscription becomes billing-locked after payment remains unresolved, automation execution can be interrupted until the billing issue is fixed.
Use Manage billing to update the payment method or resolve the subscription issue.
After payment is restored, return to Billing and confirm the subscription status before testing automation delivery again.
Account and automation limits
Plan limits affect more than monthly DM usage.
Instagram account limit
When the connected-account limit is reached, ZayDM can show Account limit reached. Upgrade or an Instagram account limit warning.
Reconnecting the same existing Instagram account does not consume a new account slot.
If a downgrade leaves more accounts connected than the new plan allows, ZayDM keeps the accounts stored, but only the eligible subset can run automations. The oldest-connected eligible accounts are prioritized by the current runtime behavior.
Active automation limit
If the account is over its active automation allowance, ZayDM shows Active automation limit with Review billing.
Inactive drafts remain editable, but additional automations cannot be started once the active limit is reached.
If a downgrade leaves too many automations active, the plan-eligible subset remains executable. Review Billing and deactivate automations you no longer need.
Plan features and automation drafts
Some plan-gated features can be configured while an automation is still an inactive draft.
Examples can include:
- Story Reply
- Follow Gate
- Smart Follow-Ups
- No-Click Reminders
- Link Click Analytics
ZayDM checks current feature entitlement when you start the automation.
If a plan change removes access to a feature, saved configuration can remain in the automation, but execution is limited by the current plan.
Use the Upgrade, Upgrade plan, or Review billing action shown in ZayDM when a feature or automation cannot be started.
For details about individual features, see How Follow Gate works, How Smart Follow-Ups work, and How link click tracking works.
Common issues
My upgrade is not showing yet
Return to Settings → Billing and confirm the Current plan after checkout or the plan-change confirmation.
If the payment completed but Billing still shows the previous plan, avoid creating duplicate checkout attempts and contact support with the account email and approximate payment time.
I cannot start another automation
Check for Active automation limit, Review billing, or a feature upgrade message.
You may need to deactivate another automation or change plans before starting the new one.
Automated DMs stopped
Check Monthly DM usage, subscription status, and any billing warnings.
If the DM allowance has been reached, sending remains limited until usage resets or the account moves to a plan with sufficient capacity.
If the subscription has a payment problem, use Manage billing to resolve it.
For broader delivery troubleshooting, see Automation not triggering.
I need an invoice or want to update my card
Select Manage subscription. Invoices and payment-method changes are handled in Stripe's billing portal.
I cancelled but still have access
A period-end cancellation keeps the paid subscription active until the current billing period ends. This is expected.
